AllWorld Network to help Sri Lanka boost global trade

Sri Lanka’s 25 fastest growing firms joining US-based AllWorld Network will gain wider visibility which will win more business and financial backing

Sri Lanka will be able to multiply trade volumes with the rest of the world following its recent entry into the AllWorld Network, which gives visibility to all the growth entrepreneurs of the emerging world, a high-profile event attended by President Mahinda Rajapaksa was told. The AllWorld Network, co-founded by Professor Michael Porter of Harvard Business School, and The Joint Apparel Association Forum (JAAF) last week announced the launch of AllWorld’s Sri Lanka Fast Growth 25 (SriLanka25). The event was also graced by Ministers, Basil Rajapaksa, Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Faiszer Mustapha, Treasury Secretary, Dr. PB Jayasundera, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Michele J. Sison together with leading private sector business magnates and entrepreneurs.
“This a pioneering effort to showcase and rank the most innovative and dynamic fast-growth private companies in Sri Lanka through a rigorous international credentialing process that discovers entrepreneurs with a track record of success in growth markets,” said Anne Habiby and Deirdre Coyle, co-CEOs of AllWorld Network at the launch held at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo.






SriLanka25 will establish the first definitive record of the fastest growing, most dynamic entrepreneurs in the country. The ranking will be published nationally and globally, giving visibility to emerging company stars. With a spot on the list, companies will gain global recognition, a network of growth entrepreneurs via AllWorldXChangeTM, a revolutionary technology platform to match companies around the world for immediate growth and investment opportunity and an invitation to the AllWorldSummit @ Harvard.

Pointing out that the goal of AllWorld’s SriLanka25 is to present a deeper picture of Sri Lanka’s entrepreneurial and innovative capacity based on real time annual information, Ms. Habiby said the SriLanka25 ranking and accompanying data will facilitate access to capital, open new markets for entrepreneurs, provide real time feedback to policy makers and point the way forward for entrepreneurs to create the next economy for their country.  Speaking at the occasion, Founding Chairman of Sri Lanka Apparel, Ashroff Omar said that over the years Sri Lankan companies have been recognized by US buyers as being reliable, ethical, compliant and sustainable - in other words Exemplary Citizens of the Corporate World.Hence he said, it is time, now that we have peace, we change gears and aspire to significantly grow trade volumes between our countries.


“I am sure that the large corporates are already marching forward. However, our President’s vision is that the new and upcoming entrepreneurs in all parts of the island and across all industries should have a fast track to growth. The SriLanka25 we are launching today meets this criteria as the focus is on SMEs and it straddles all business sectors,” he said.

Having already created the Arabia500, AllWorld Network is concurrently launching the SouthAsia250, which will encompass the SriLanka25, Pakistan100 and India100. In addition, AllWorld is launching the Africa500 in 2014.
The SriLanka25 application process is open to private companies in Sri Lanka who have been able to significantly grow their revenues in the past three years.
